# inferExpressionKindFromText

Canonical page: https://www.adaptabletools.com/docs/reference/inferexpressionkindfromtext

Infers the from the expression text alone.
Returns `undefined` for empty or unparseable text.

Pure and host-agnostic: brace syntax marks aggregation regardless of the
name. At runtime prefer `queryLanguageService.getExpressionKind`,
which supplies the module's custom names and memoises the result.

```ts title="TypeScript"
inferExpressionKindFromText: (expression: string | undefined | null, options?: InferExpressionKindOptions) => ExpressionKind | undefined
```
