Power AdapTable using AI
Use the AdapTable AI Skills to ask your coding agent to set up a new AdapTable instance, add extra features, explain a misbehaving Grid or plan an AdapTable version upgrade
Our clients are happy with their coding agents and don't need another, but what they want AI to deliver is clear:
- set up new AdapTable (and AG Grid) instances with a simple request
- ask for a Format Column or Layout — and get one that works accurately for their framework and version
- be able to fix problems with their Grid now, not after a day in the docs
- upgrade to new AdapTable versions seamlessly and accurately
Which is why we are delighted to launch AdapTable's AI resources - four Agent Skills and an MCP Server.
Your trusted AI agent can use these to build the product knowledge required to create or read live Grids and produce meaningful content in a timely fashion, and to update AdapTable versions when required.
Welcome to the AdapTable AI toolkit.
It provides set of advanced AI Skills (and optional MCP Server) which help you set up, develop, debug and upgrade your applications faster and more accurately than ever.
Ask the Skills to set up AdapTable, add a feature, fix a misbehaving Grid, or plan an upgrade.
The results are accurate, fast and use the version of AdapTable already in the project.
And AdapTable AI works with the coding agent your team already uses - Cursor, Claude Code, VS Code with Copilot, OpenAI Codex etc. - nothing new to buy, host or roll out.
Why AdapTable AI is a game-changer
- For developers, the handbook work collapses into a request:
- A new Grid, a feature, a diagnosis, an upgrade
- A change small enough to read, following the AdapTable already installed
- The pages it used, cited, so the review is quick
- For engineering managers and IT, there is nothing new to approve:
- Developers keep the agent the company has already standardised on
- The work runs on the developer's machine: no account, no API key, nothing sent to AdapTable Tools
- Nothing is added to the application, and licence keys stay out of source code
What you can ask for
You can use the AdapTable AI Skills to meet a huge range of use cases and requirements:
A new Grid from a Spreadsheet
Create a React trade blotter from
data/trades.xlsxwith AdapTable
Hand the agent a spreadsheet of trades.
It stands up the project, asks once where the licence keys should live, reads the columns from the file, creates AG Grid and AdapTable instances and opens the Grid.
An afternoon with the integration guide becomes a request, and a look at the result.
The highlights you need this morning
Highlight the rows where status is Failed
The rows where status is Failed should stand out, so say so.
The agent adds the highlight to the Grid you already run, on the status column that is already there.
The change is small enough to read, and action, in a minute.
The new highlight is on screen immediately, and remains visible the next time the Grid opens.
The Grid that won't open how you want
The Trades layout is in the dropdown but the Grid still opens on something else. Why?
The code says Trades, but the screen says otherwise.
Reading the project will not find it: a Layout saved in that browser, from an earlier session, is loading on top of the one in the code.
The agent works out the problem and tells you what went wrong.
It will make the project's Layout win next time, and leaves the rest of what people saved in the browser.
Nothing is touched until someone agrees.
A planned, comprehensive upgrade
Plan our upgrade to AdapTable 24
The agent comes back with the changes that touch your code, and a move that has not been applied.
A second conversation applies it and builds.
The weekend in the Release Notes becomes a comprehensive plan you receive back in minutes.
You can circulate to colleagues and then build.

Installed with one command
It is trivial to install the AdapTable AI resources.
Just one line in the project folder terminal installs all four AI Skills:
| Skill | What it does |
|---|---|
| adaptable-setup | Set up a Grid from a spreadsheet, an existing grid, or an empty project |
| adaptable-dev | Add and change a feature, e.g. a Calculated Column, Layout or Alert |
| adaptable-debug | Find out why the Grid on screen is not doing what the code says |
| adaptable-upgrade | Plan a move to a newer AdapTable version, then apply it when you say so |
A short note in AGENTS.md (or CLAUDE.md) tells the agent they are there.
Note
- The AI Skills share one package - with the MCP Server installed, a Skill calls it directly
- Without it, the Skill runs same package itself and still finishes; developers never call that package
Your machine — your code, State, data and keys stay here
Ask in plain English: add AdapTable, add a feature, explain a misbehaving Grid, plan an upgrade
The agent you already use opens the matching Skill, and still writes the code
The procedure: find the installed version, read its docs, decide where the answer belongs, write it, check it
When MCP is installed, the Skill calls its tools. Otherwise the Skill runs the CLI. Either way it reads the docs for your version and checks State, Expressions and setup against what is installed. You do not call MCP yourself
The docs export for the installed major, cached after the first download
The checks use the types and engine of the AdapTable in your project
Read through the DevTools In-page API with the agent's browser tool
A diff, a diagnosis of the running Grid, or an upgrade plan — with the checks that ran and the docs pages used
The docs export (no code or data is sent)
When the project has no AdapTable 24+ package to check with
- You ask your agent in plain English
- The agent opens the Agent Skill for the job
- The Skill uses the MCP server when it is installed, and the adaptable CLI when it is not, to read the docs for your version and to check what it wrote. You do not call MCP yourself
- The CLI checks against the AdapTable package in your project, or the State of the running Grid; the agent fixes what it finds and checks again
- You get a diff, a diagnosis or a plan to review
Important
- AdapTable's help covers AdapTable
- AG Grid has its own Skills and MCP Server
- The two meet in the middle, so we recommend you install both
Help Us to Do More
If an AdapTable action still has to be done by hand, we want to hear about it.
That is how we improve our Skills and ensure that next time, your agent does the work for you.
Feedback
- Tell us which agents you use, and what you still have to correct by hand
- Send your suggestions to our support team — that is how we decide what the Skills and the CLI do next
